Yeah, me and my Dad have been having a fridge war a while now. I like to have our fridge on the coldest setting, 7, so that everything is nice and icey. But my Dad likes to have it on a lower setting, usually 3, so that things aren't much colder than room temperature. And I mean, if there's one thing I don't like, it's luke warm milk.
So i'll put it onto 7, and then a couple of days later my Dad will notice and put it onto 3, then a couple of days after that i'll notice and put it back onto 7, ad nauseam. It's been going on for years.
Now the same is happening with the central heating. In the winter, I like to put it on as soon as I get up, because the house is usually freezing. I find it hard to concentrate and get my head straight in the cold for some reason. This is northern Britain, remember. But my Dad doesn't see the need to have it on, and so if he spots that it is, he'll turn it off. Then when I notice it's been turned off, I turn it back on again. And ad nauseam.
Today, it feels particularly chilly, so I turned it on. But after half an hour or so, the house didn't feel any warmer. I went downstairs, and sure enough, it had been turned off. So what i've done is turn it back on, and then put a loaf of bread in front of the control panel, so that my Dad won't spot that it's on, and won't be able to turn it off.
It's a pretty good tactic, even if I do say so myself, and hopefully i'll feel all toasty soon enough.
