Humor changes, dumbass. What's edgy today, it dull and repetative tomorrow.
Its like watching those comedies from the 1920s. Charlie Chaplin and whatever. You watch them and know that people found them funny. But you just cant see it. Indeed, it seems quite annoying to a contemporary viewer.
But if you go in with the right mind-set and have the historical perspective, you can better appreciate those films.
Stuff from the 30s is more tolerable. The Three Stooges, anyway. Its pretty high-brow stuff, actually. I know that the casual viewer thinks its just slapstick but the real laughs for me come from the snappy dialogue (which is has in surprising abundance).
