You know, it occured to me that "Lucha Libre in London" doesnt seem to be coming back. The first one was in June or July of last year. Then the second was in December. But here we are mid-way through July and no mention of it. And the luchalibreinlondon.com website is gone now.
That second event was pretty poor so that could be a factor. I mean, the wrestlers were great but the ambiance was terrible. They completely stripped it of it's Mexican flavor. The wrestlers all spoke in English and...it just didnt strike me as particularly Mexican. Selling stale, overpriced tacos and tequila does not make for a Mexican experience.
Most of the people in the audience seemed to be non-Mexican as well. For the first one, there seemed to be a fair number of actual Mexicans.
So...yeah. There you go. I wouldnt mind buying a DVD of that second show that I went to, though. It seemed to be professionally-recorded so it should be possible. The finishing move by El Hijo del Santo was amazing. The dude's knocking on 50 but he did some crazy 360 or even 720 degree flipping, spinning neckbreaker or something on the dude. Lets see Hulk Hogan do that. Man...Hogan hasnt left his feet in 30 years.
