Absolutely bang on.
Hmm. So you think there's such a thing as specifically 'British values', then? That's a pretty nationalistic stance to take, and it does tend to be the nationalists who are the most extreme Islamophobes (and anti-semites).
Again, this kind of anti-racist liberalism
In my experience, liberals are actually prone to coming out with arguments like yours, rather than arguments like mine. They'll say that, as a religion, Islam is inherently sexist, homophobic, repressive, etc, and so stands in opposition to liberal enlightenment values. Hence, it has no place in liberal, englightened Europe. They overlook the fact that there are feminist muslims, gay muslims, liberal muslims, socialist muslims, etc, perhaps because it's easier to just mindlessly join in with the corporate/state media narrative of muslims being a 'backwards' mass who are all akin to the Taliban. When in fact, opinion polls consistently show that when it comes to social issues like this (gender equality, freedom of speech, thought and action, sexual freedom, etc) British muslim attitudes are no different to the attitudes of the population of a whole - in fact, they're marginally more progressive, if anything.
the result of multiculturalism's agenda to steer the Left into shallow waters. Its boring and those who fall for it are awful.
Nowhere near as awful as those people who hate and fear muslims for no other reason than that they are muslims, or talk about them as though they somehow don't belong to the 'national community'. That's an essentialist argument that's clearly drifting towards fascism.
