I'd say the exact opposite is true. In U.S./U.K. style liberal democaries, decision making is supposed to be left to a narrow elite, with the public - or 'the bewildered herd', as Walter Lippman described us - largely kept out of the process because were're apparently too stupiud to know what's good for us.
Obviously, the opinions of the masses dont count for anything. This is why the propaganda that it does is so insideous. Its a way of shifting blame. You cant complain about the system because "you" voted for these people.
And your opinions are all perfectly valid and your "elected" representatives are interested in what you have to say. Its all nonsense, of course. But it serves its purpose.
Also, of course its overwhelmingly the poor who join the military. This isnt even worth debating so Ill end it here.
So my blog entry got posted. I had to find it through Google since they never sent me the URL.
They cut 50 words out. Some of the funniest lines too. Guess they were too "edgy". But now it doesnt read as well.
And wheres my money for this? #### knows. I dont think Ill get it either. And my blog entry is in "Your Stories" as opposed to how he presented it (i.e. that I'd have a weekly column). So I guess any idiot can submit something. At least he used my pen name for the post. But they noted that its a fake name. Thats...well, stupid. And I wish they didnt do that.
So I emailed the guy again. I dont want to appear desperate because its just £20 but I'd like to get paid as we agreed on. So in response to his mass email to the three bloggers, I said:
I never got the URL. And do you have any information about payment?
I havent received anything and asked for clarification about these
invoices.

A bit terse, but Im a terse dude when it comes to not getting paid. And I read these other posts by the other bloggers. Umm...not exciting to put it mildly. Want to know how to buy a second hand bike? No, me neither. Or some great fashion tips using products available on the website? Well...again, thats not really my bag.
But my post is ####ing fantastic even though they did butcher it. Not only is the subject matter much more interesting, the writing style is significantly more fun to read.
But yeah, Ill never get my twenty pounds and Ill never be asked to write anymore. Oh well. The site seems to just be a big commercial for the main website anyway.
