Based on the novel by Chitra Divakaruni, "Spices" centers on Tilo, an immortal woman born in a mystical, faraway place, who is trained in the ancient art of healing with spices. The newly initiated Tilo opens up shop in California, but faces a tough decision when she falls in love with a handsome mortal. Paul Mayeda Berges will begin shooting the project in one week. Berges is the husband of filmmaker Gurinder Chadha, the director behind Rai's film "Bride & Prejudice," which opens Friday, Feb. 11. Chadha will produce "Spices" with Deepak Nayar. McDermott, 43, recently appeared in "Party Monster," "Wonderland" and "Runaway Jury." He next stars in the upcoming dramas "Edison," with Justin Timberlake, and "The Tenants," alongside Snoop Dogg. from zap2it.com
