My ex moved back to the Rio Grande Valley so I was considering Transferring to the Lopez/Segovia units. I only hear negative things about it on the grey gossip express such as corruption and scared bosses. Does anyone have any first hand experience working with that crew and are the rumors true? Took a minute to get my degree so I'll probably try to promote as soon as I transfer. Any insight would be helpful, thanks.

Don't do it, those are the most backwards thinking people I've ever met. Not sure if it's their upbringing or the regional thinking but they're not good people. Find a unit with more diversity and progressive.

Honestly, I’ve never been to the units you referenced. That being said, I doubt there’s a unit anywhere in the agency that isn’t corrupt. Conduct a proper shakedown, on any unit, and you’ll find drugs, tobacco, weapons and cell phones.
They are not making the cell phones in the craft shop and they aren’t growing marijuana, on the rec yard. Corrupt TDCJ, Wyndham and UTMB employees bring that in to their homeboys and their boyfriends.
As far as being weak, tolerant and permissive of inappropriate inmate behavior, that’s as big of a problem as corruption. It’s a way of life, that comes down from the very top. Friendliness is preached in preservice and reinforced in inservice. Friendliness is embedded in agency policy.
If you put your hands on one of their little darlings, they don’t approach it from the standpoint that the inmate is a lying convicted felon. They look at it and say “How can we make this the bosses fault”? Never mind that the bastard threw piss in your face, threatened your family, spit on you, kicked you, punched you and he had a shank in his waistband.
And they pretend like they don’t understand why the agency is 8,000 bosses short. They know darn well why we are short. For the record, I believe the number is closer to 12K or maybe even 15K short. I remember when we opened up Ellis II. We had bosses tripping over each other.

I'll tell you another problem and that is racist administration. Whether white toward black or black toward white. Collier talks about no tolerance for racism but it is there. Major at the Unit across I45 in Huntsville using racial Slurs and a former Warden at Eastham who's name he shares with the town of Hutto. Both of these men showed their true colors.

Yeah man, they help cover shift (mandatory) and most of them are scrubs. The newboots are scared and the old boots are friendly and lazy. If you really do have a degree I'd recommend going somewhere like US Marshall's or some other Fed job. I almost transferred myself but they changed my mind for me.
