I guess when your daddy is/was a convict and you are a warden you will be super friendly. I guess this is why inmates at a particular unit get good night chocolates and can get away with murder. I won't name the unit but the Sam Houston monument is within sight of this unit.

That’s utterly repulsive. That being said, it doesn’t surprise me. I wish it surprised me, but it doesn’t.
That particular unit was well known to be a train wreck, even when I first hired on, in 1986. We were told in the academy, to pray we didn’t end up, on that unit. When I rehired, in the mid 90’s, that unit was a total complete disaster. Now, that can probably be said, for every unit in the system.
The current administration and their weak, cowardly, hug a thug philosophy would have been laughed out of the state of Texas 35 years ago.

I have no problem bustin' people out like a wildman, poking holes in organizations or agencies like TDCJ and puttin' their business out there like that, so I'll just say it. It is none other than the Goree Unit that stands in the shadow of the Sam Houston statue on the south end of Huntsville.
