And was wondering how maintenance can be kept up at the units with the current staffing. I was nosing around and looked at the job listings (not that I could go back to work, too old, too sick) and saw that Dalhart has so many maintenance job openings that one must assume they have only 1 or 2 maintenance people on staff. Jordan, BC, JM, and others are running very low on staff. Regional has openings! How are they getting it done, or is it being done at all?
One last question, who is head of maintenance at RD and JM? I used to work at one of them an was curious. Yall stay safe, and watch out for each other. Sounds like staffing is getting serious in the supervisor areas. Many Many lt, and sgt openings at most units

It's hard to hire maintenance personnel when they don't offer a competitive salary to the jobs available in the freeworld. TDCJ has to compete against the freeworld for applicants. Right now, the economy is good. Jobs are available in the freeworld. So, unless TDCJ is willing to come up off some cash to pay those maintenance folks they will continue to have a lot of vacancies.
