No, not a joke, just a consideration at this point. For the past 25+ years I have been in a supervisory / management role, just thinking it would be nice to show up for work each day and just bear the responsibilities of my own actions and leave the headache of employees and production schedules / shortfalls; budgets and overruns, machinery failures and lack of capital expenditures to replace what really needs to be updated....ect. |
Inmate management I would not expect to be an issue, I have raised children and managed employees in union shops for over 15 of those years, the overall mentality is very similar so...
I have accumulated an extensive resume, but I don't have a college degree, all done by very hard work through the years, so I don't "qualify" for an admin job, and to be honest, I don't know that I would respect myself in the morning if I were in that role in a prison setting today.
With few exceptions, all the wardens I worked for came up through the ranks from the "good ole days", may not have liked them, but definitely respected them nonetheless.
To be really honest, the idea of "8 and the gate" has a very strong appeal to someone in my position. I work by contract now and my current one expires at end of August, wondering where "next" is at this point.
I can assure you though, my 8 and the gate would be more involved than some will be in a month of Sunday's, just the way I am wired, if you are going to do something, do it all the way or don't start at all.
