I am considering returning to TDC (showing my age) after being gone for 21 years. I spent 11 years with TDC from 1986-1997, during that time the majority was in seg and I promoted Sgt - Lt there, also spent some time as a Field Force Sgt and work camp Sgt in between.
My question is, how difficult has it been to adapt to the "new" TDCJ, I was raised in the era immediately following Ruiz and called all inmates "thieves" and there was no such answer as refusal to follow orders for the vast majority of my tenure.
I left to go into the private sector and made a ton of money through the years, my life situation has changed, mortage paid, kids college paid.....ect, and I am looking to do something with a retirement plan & insurance for the next 10-12 years.
How has the adapting to not only the new breed of convicts (sorry, not sure those exist anymore), Admin and officer corps been for you long timers.
I have spent the past 21 years in a supervisory role from floor supervisor - Shift operations manager and Production Manager for 4 major companies in manufacturing, several being unionized labor.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
