The rift is already there until the new boot earns their stripes so to speak. Unless you are one of those rare officers that never rolls their eyes when a new boot makes a mistake. Nor are you one that makes predictions on new boots. Who will sleep with rank or who will be dirty. This has nothing to do with deliberately screwing over a new boot (who does that?) It also has nothing to do with holding a grudge against a new boot because they got a raise. They didnít receive a raise, that is their starting pay. This is about the state paying respect to those who did not leave after the first year. This is about the state giving *old boots* a raise that doesnít include messing with our benefits. Pay is based on experience, a CO 3 has more experience than a CO 1. Higher pay is a reward, if you will, for the time and experience earned and gained by an officer. As it is now, a CO 2 will make more than a CO 5. I have never heard of any business paying higher wages to someone with less experience and less qualifications.
