You are correct. Hispanic is considered an origin according to the Federal Census Bureau, but in the TDCJ race is broken down into 4 categories: 1. White, Black, Hispanic, or other. In any document on demographics within the agency you can see this. For instance, the death row information page, or Executive Services Statistical Information. So we really need to tell TDCJ.
