Escapes. Incompetance is the norm at TDCJ-ID

Every year there are escapes and the escape rate appears to be increasing. As for as hiring low class people to be officers; officers have always been toward the bottom of the socio-economic scale. It may be changing in the federal sector. It is changing in the state sector too. This is because, to the dismay of the lower class people who were bred into TDCJ, better educated and higher class immigrants are succeeding as Correctional Officers. The influence of the lower class officers that infested TDCJ-ID many decades ago continues to pull the agency down.
