It's not only prison staff, EMS workers, police and fire fighters who have a gallows humor -- most of the reporters do too. I have heard Stephen Dean making jokes prior to an execution - carrying on as though he didn't have a care in the world and certainly not treating the process with seriousness -- until he got on camera. His taking Warden Willett to task is the ultimate hypocrisy.
