A 12 volt relay will have a coil and one or more sets of contacts that can be used to switch something else. Connect the push button in series with the relay coil and connect the combination to the 12 volt source so that the relay energizes when the button is pushed. The relay should have a set of contacts (called Normally Open or NO) that will make connection when the relay is energized. Connect these contacts in series with the lock and connect the combination to the power supply that will drive the lock. When the button is pushed, the relay energizes, closing the NO contacts, which applies power to the lock, releasing it. Best regards, -- Bert --
