Mario, Based on the information you've provided, it sounds like your tank cap is much too small (0.0013 uF), your system may be out of tune, and you are supplying way too much power for the small tank cap. Overpowering a small tank cap usually causes power arcing in the main gap or safety gap and the coil fails to operate properly. I'd suggest plugging in some of your system's parameters into a good design aid tool such as Bart Anderson's JavaTC, TeslaPro, or TCPlan - see: I could also do an analysis of your system, but I'd need a bit more information. What is the diameter, type of wire, wire gauge, and winding length of your secondary, and is it closewound? Best regards, -- Bert --
: I was hoping that you could help me out again with my six inch coil. I can't
: seem to get any breakout at all and the safety that is across the caps just
: fires constantly even though it is over 1/2" apart. I have the pole
: transformer set on the lowest number which is 12500V and I have 30 0.04m
: farad caps in series. I took off the rotary gap and have the rq gap on it,
: and it fires for a second and then the safety gap goes. I have 11 turns of
: 3/8" cop. tube primary. Any ideas? Thanks Mario

What type/size topload are you using?
What are you using for an RF ground on the base of your secondary?
What is the inside diameter of your primary and the turn-turn spacing?
