Roger, You need a switch that can safely handle thousands or tens of thousands of amperes without welding or getting destroyed. Commercial mercury switches, even a hevay duty mercury plunger relays, will not work for your application since they cannot be depended upon to safely pass the high discharge current, and the discharge may rupture the glass container. I do not use mercury switches or ignitrons for any of my work. You don't want your lab declared a hazardous materials site... :^) Best regards, -- Bert --
: Hi Bert;
: Do you think I could use the Mecury Switch, that were used for Oil Burner
: Relays, & or the Silent GE Wall Switch for the Capacitor Charge
: disgharge?
: I have not experimented with the Mecury Switch & I'm not Sure if the
: Glass Vile of Mecury would Shatter, if I used it to Switch the Capacitor
: Charge.
: Have you ever used or Tried the Mecury Switch?
: Thank You. Roger
