Hi Sam, Just realized I didn't answer your other question. No, it is not necessary to cover the open ends of your secondary. Some coilers glue insulating disks inside, but this is really not essential. However, never drill any holes into the secondary form or bring either end of the secondary winding inside the coil form, since this will then form a place for corona. Once you begin getting corona, the insulation system will eventually fail, and you'll arc track the inside of your secondary. Best regards, -- Bert --
