Hi Jeffrey, NO - that's not correct. You normally do not use the center lug. However, I need a bit more clarification of exactly what you have for power coming into the pig before I can answer your questions. First: Second: Third: The tap setting usually for minor voltage changes and it's position should not be relevant to the proper operation of the pig. I assume you have had some prior HV experience such as working with NST's before tackling this. Be very careful - you will not get a second chance if you have a HV accident with this transformer. -- Bert --
: Help-
: If I'm hooking up two 120v lines to my pig, they should be each
: connected to one of the outermost lugs is that not correct? The middle lug
: would be for the Neutral that would normally feed a house(s). If this is
: the correct hook-up with app. 55-60amps behind it, I should be getting some
: volts out of the high leads. I'm not however. My tap is set on 'A'
: (whatever that is), since this transformer came with no id. tag or any
: information on its spec. What would you suggest I do next?
:
Are you using some type of current limiting ballast that will limit your short circuit current to 55-60 amps and a heavy duty relay/cut-off switch of some kind?
Are you attempting to operate the pig off of a single 120 volt circuit (hot and neutral) or from a standard 240 volt circuit made up of two 120 volt lines (versus neutral), each line phased 180 degrees from each other? Or are you trying to drive it off two independent 120 volt branch circuits?
Do you have a variac to control the voltage output?
