I decided this week that the bank sign should never read -21ºF. If we set a threshold of, say, -5ºF, it should just say "ERROR -- TOO COLD, GO HOME" for anything lower than that.
Here are the symptoms of a cold snap:
1- Upon stepping outside, coughing commences with the first indrawn breath
2- Instant booger freeze. The inside of the nose is supposed to be warmed by the surrounding blood vessels, yet the air outside is cold enough to cause an instant freeze in there.
3- Squeaky snow. Really squeaky snow.
4- Watering eyes. Man, that cold hits like a punch in the face!
