Posted by Avicenna on April 25, 2007, 7:13 pm Iranian students and scholars were awarded 52 gold medals, 11 special prizes, and two honorary doctorates at the event held from April 18 to 22. 45 countries contended at the exhibition and this is the greatest success Iran has ever achieved. Organized by the Swiss Federal Government and the State and City of Geneva, the event hosted more than 70,000 visitors. Almost 1,000 totally new inventions were exhibited by industrial and commercial companies, independent researchers and inventors, universities, state organizations and institutes. Iran's team has won the 35th International Exhibition of Invention in Geneva with Switzerland coming second and Russia in third place.
Iran also came 2nd in this category.
This is different category than the one in which Iran won 52 gold medals and which placed them first of 45 countries -Note though that Iran with 7 awards in this category landed on second place, and that France with 9 award landed on the first place - HOWEVER, it should be mentioned that out of the 9 awards France recieved, 6 of them were awarded by French institutions, while all 7 awards Iran recieved were awarded by foreign institutions.
