I agree. We have found that environmental problems can usually be overcome if introduced correctly. Some never can, and in the past we let our ego get in the way, saying, "We can fix that". We were just band-aiding the issue and it usually came back to bite us. Now, we are more successful in that area.
The trainers we delt with understood how and why we use compulsion. A few came out to our shop and we put on a seminar and demo prior to our visit. What is consistent in their world and ours is reading behavior. They know when not to get to close to the Sea Lions, or go in the water with the Orca. It's all about knowing the norm. Of course, sometimes we miss something and someone gets hurt. Same with them. We spoke in detail to the trainer that got pinned to the bottom of the tank twice by a killer whale. Interesting story! Puts things into perspective!
