Saturday we talked about the guy who was trying to sell
an oven door packed in flat screen TV box in a Wal-Mart
parking lot, and that's pretty bizarre, but at least he
made the effort to offer something for the money he was
trying to scam.
Today's scam artist didn't bother with a product (fake or
otherwise), she just took peoples' money. But how do you
get people to give you money for nothing? Easy. Tell them
you're a witch doctor.
Washington state police said they were searching for a
"witch doctor" who "cleansed" money of evil and allegedly
ran off with nearly $140,000 from clients. But it was
spiritually clean money.
Lakewood police said the woman, who uses the name Senora
Monica, conned multiple people in the Puget Sound region
into giving her large sums of money to cleanse.
Police Lt. Heidi Hoffman said Monica would often return
the money to her clients, and then ask for a fee for her
services.
Hoffman said the suspect and her husband ran a Lakewood
store called "Centro de Consultas Espirituales" that
specialized in spiritual guidance and sold items such as
incense, candles and talents. She said Monica and her
husband fled after stockpiling a large amount of money.
A woman who owns a hair salon next to Monica's store said
the woman would tell clients they would die if their money
was not cleansed of evil spirits.
Sooner or later those people are in for a surprise.

For those who might be late comers to this board, Dory was a poster who we will remember as one who gave of herself so others survivors might smile. She always kept this board moving with her inspirational poems, jokes and riddles. Most will give Dory credit for energizing this board. She was an inspiration to everyone on this board. In that spirit, let us
continue to post in Dory’s memory so she might smile down on us and give us the same inspiration. Therefore, we have named the board, Dory's Board, in her memory. 11/11/01 (Dory was the first to call attention to the significance of 9/11, re: WTC tragedy, i.e. 911 for emergency). Let me be the first to note all the ones in the above date, indicating she was No. 1 on our board.
