Had a very bad time as a result of using a "netti pot" (its used for sinus hygiene). Apparently after using it I developed severe pain, not thinking much about the pain...I later bent over to pet the dog when a gush of crystal clear fluid came out of my nose. I developed a severe incapacitating headache that gradually worsened. Having a breast cancer Hx 2001, the MRI showed an abnormalitythat they read as brain metatasis. Thinking that this was it I just thought that it finally came back to bite me after 8 years. My oncologist was convinced and sent me for multiple spinal taps and invasive testing. Long story short a Neurologist I saw was adamant that this WAS NOT CANCER but Spontaneous intracranial hypotension. Big Words but sounded a whole lot more hopeful than brain cancer. After having a special 12 hour xray they discovered that I had a hole in my brain sac that bathes the brain in fluid, located in the nasal area. Caused by the Netti pot experience. I am blessed that it was not cancer but wanted to share and caution those who use a netti pot about this and offer support and hope to those who are in despair about diagnoses.....Go for more than one opinion...it changed my life considerably.

For those who might be late comers to this board, Dory was a poster who we will remember as one who gave of herself so others survivors might smile. She always kept this board moving with her inspirational poems, jokes and riddles. Most will give Dory credit for energizing this board. She was an inspiration to everyone on this board. In that spirit, let us continue to post in Dory�s memory so she might smile down on us and give us the same inspiration. Therefore, we have named the board, Dory's Board, in her memory. 11/11/01 (Dory was the first to call attention to the significance of 9/11, re: WTC tragedy, i.e. 911 for emergency). Let me be the first to note all the ones in the above date, indicating she was No. 1 on our board.
