ok people, now i've done shows at my grandmother's nursing home before, but the show i did on saturday was so funny.
1) i have my own sound system so i got there, set it up, did a sound check, all ready, had a change of clothes, went into the bathroom to put on a nice pair of pants, fancy shirt, nice dress shoes, what did i leave home? my dress socks, so after my first song (opened with circle of life from lion king) i told the audience about my blunder, they laughed their heads off. so i was "sockless george" to start the show off. did the show miami vice style.
2) my grandmother was non stop talking during my show so my aunt had to continually get her to quiet down.
3) during the song "makin it", a real up tempo dance song, one lady (the wanderer) walks up to me and grabs the microphone cord (as i'm singing and dancing around her) and won't let go. so here comes the guy in the white jacket to gently get her to let it go and move away from me. so funny
4) in the middle of my 6th song, two women in the wheelchairs in the back of the room, start screaming at each other and fists are about to fly. (i heard one of them yell, "b###h !you don't know me !) so i finished the song and said, "listen, now the two of you are gonna get sent to your rooms if you don't cut it out," so the attendants took them out too, still hollering at each other. i bet they were fighting over some guy. my aunt tells me stories , i don't want to know any more lol.
5) in the middle of my 9th song, a real beautiful song, I'm Already There by Lonestar, the power outlet into which my sound system was plugged in, went dead. off all the friggin outlets in the room, why? the electricans were down the hall working on the circuits. so i had to joke with the audience, use my resources and find another outlet and start the song again.
6) OH, the flashing lady as i call her, walked up to me during one of my songs and starts to lift her top up and smiling like "you want some of this big boy?" so, once again, you guessed it, here comes the nurse to move her away and lower her top, and sit her down.
but, despite all of that, the show went well and went off without a hitch (gag)...
well, my weekend was great, how was your's? lol.

For those who might be late comers to this board, Dory was a poster who we will remember as one who gave of herself so others survivors might smile. She always kept this board moving with her inspirational poems, jokes and riddles. Most will give Dory credit for energizing this board. She was an inspiration to everyone on this board. In that spirit, let us
continue to post in Dory’s memory so she might smile down on us and give us the same inspiration. Therefore, we have named the board, Dory's Board, in her memory. 11/11/01 (Dory was the first to call attention to the significance of 9/11, re: WTC tragedy, i.e. 911 for emergency). Let me be the first to note all the ones in the above date, indicating she was No. 1 on our board.
