Well, last night I went out on my first date in about 15 yrs and now I know why I don't go out!! The guy who asked me out is a father of my son's friend and I have know him for years. We went out for dinner at a very nice place here in town. That was a point in his favor. During supper I don't think he said more than 20 words in an hour and 1/2. I tried to ask him questions to get him talking but he evidently doesn't know how to carry on a conversation. (deduct the point I just gave him for picking out a nice restaurant). Then when the bill came he actually divided out my share - ok, that's fine. I can certainly pay for my share although he asked me out... (minus another point) He then put down a $2 tip for a $60 dinner (minus another point). I suplemented the tip to fit the bill. He then asked me if I wanted to go to the movies. Ok, that sounded like fun. (1 point for the suggestion of the movie) So he stopped at a movie rental place... (subtract the point I just gave him for the suggestion of going to a movie). He picked out a movie - the Terminator for $1 which I politely told him that I had seen 1000 times. (minus another point) We went to my house to watch the movie and it was then that he started to ask me about my job and what I liked to on my days off. (plus a point for actually showing an interest in my life). I told him that my son has been a motocross racer for years and from April to October I spend most Sundays at the races. He told me I was an idiot for letting my son race motocross and how dangerous it was and how HE would NEVER let his kids take part in a sport like that. (minus another point for calling me an idiot) He also didn't like the fact that I work 2nd shift and how important he felt it was that a single mother should be at home with her family during the evening hours (hey, my kids are 36 and 23 years old!) My oldest doesn't even live in the same state and my 23 year old stops in to take a shower and eat and then leaves again!!) (minus another point for calling me a bad mom). At this point I am done. I tell him I am tired and he should probably leave. Yeah it is 9:30 on a Saturday night!! He has insulted me and exhausted me! Done, done, stick a fork in me - I am MORE than done!! So, today he calls and wants me to go out with him again and says what a good time he had!?!?!?! Needless to say I politely declined. So, anyone have a good Valentine's Day?

For those who might be late comers to this board, Dory was a poster who we will remember as one who gave of herself so others survivors might smile. She always kept this board moving with her inspirational poems, jokes and riddles. Most will give Dory credit for energizing this board. She was an inspiration to everyone on this board. In that spirit, let us
continue to post in Dory’s memory so she might smile down on us and give us the same inspiration. Therefore, we have named the board, Dory's Board, in her memory. 11/11/01 (Dory was the first to call attention to the significance of 9/11, re: WTC tragedy, i.e. 911 for emergency). Let me be the first to note all the ones in the above date, indicating she was No. 1 on our board.
