When I was first diagnosed and began my journey I was still working. So many people would say "my (cousin, sister, aunt, friend, etc.) had breast cancer.......and I would stop them right there and say "Is this a good story or a bad story? If it's a good story you can tell me. If it's a bad story keep it to yourself". They eventually "got it". The LAST thing I wanted to hear was about someone dying of breast cancer. I needed to stay positive. However, I believe you are right. People just don't know what to say. I had a friend that had ovarian cancer and I didn't know what to say to her sometimes. She was angry because they have come such a long way with breast cancer treatment and not with ovarian cancer treatment. She almost made me feel guilty because I went into remission and her battle went on and on. So, yes, people don't mean to be insensitive. They just don't know what to say. Hugs, Roseanne
