I was diagnosed two years ago, stage 3 IDC. Chemo 4AC, 12 taxol. Then lumpectomy, followed by bilateral mastectomy (they took four lymph nodes). 1 lymph node showed positive when diagnosed, none positive after chemo), 33 radiation, then 6 perjeta herceptin, DIEP flap reconstruction followed by 11 Herceptin.
Today I had a 3D mammo and was told everything looked great. Ok so nothing is seen in my reconstructed breasts. But....what if something had spread 2 years ago and was too microscopic to be seen, and chemo didn't kill it? Should I be having a follow up PET, MRI or CT to make sure? If not how often are the scans done?
I see my oncologist next week, but not sure how this is going to go moving forward and want to hear from others please!
