Hi Beth, we are on the same boat right now in terms of burning pain in the armpit and jolting pain in the breast where the cancer mass was taken out, and it has been 3 weeks already since the surgery. Per my radiation oncologist, the jolting pain is good coz that is a sign that the nerves are growing back and making connections. For the burning pain, I put a little pillow between my armpit and right chest so I won't feel the chafing and burning sensation whenever something, like my clothes, rubs my skin in those areas. I also try making social connections whenever my body is up for it like going to church, Christmas parties, my kids' activities at school, because these help boost me up emotionally. Hope these help.
