I found that a bag of frozen peas helped me the most in regards to pain. I just plopped a bag onto the sore area, and it helped a lot. You need to be moving around. I was told to 'crawl' my finters slowly up a wall several times a day until I could stretch my arm out all the way. Somewhat painful, but better than a frozen arm.....
I'm sorry you are having all this discomfort, but would encourage you to stay as busy as you can to keep your mind occupied. Defeat won't help you, and may hamper your recovery.
You WILL be OK, you WILL get past this! Try as hard as you can not to worry. If you have not called your surgeon after 9 days of pain, please do so today and see what the suggestion is. Don't let "terrible pain" continue without talking to your doctor.
