I agree with Alvita 100%...every case of cancer and person is different so avoid listening to the horror stories out there...find a doctor you trust and make the best decision for you...Personally, I don't fool myself saying my cancer is cured but "controlled"...when I was diagnosed, I told the doc please give me just one year of life...it is now 2 yrs and I feel great...I opted for all the treatments recommended because I did not want to look back and regret I did not do all that could be done....there's no guarantees in cancer treatment but be reassured it has grown leaps and bounds from even 5 yrs ago, producing more and more survivors of this wicked disease..
Regarding radiation, everybody responds differently...I found it the easiest of the treatments...you just lay there for 10 min and it's done...the worse side effect was some skin burning toward the end but was nothing more than a sunburn, and it healed quickly when treatment stopped...here's why I opted for radiation: the doc told me radiation kills any cancer cells surgery and chemo misses and decreases my chance of recurrence from 30% to 5%, so the decision was a no-brainer...a good radiation oncologist is as important as the other docs...ask around and find one you trust
ask lots of questions....whatever you decide, tell yourself you made the best decision possible...you will do fine and you may surprise yourself by living 40 more yrs!!...life is a gamble every time we go out and drive in traffic!!...just take it one day at a time...that's all any of us can do!!...keep us posted
