Good Morning Becky! I had a lumpectomy and decided later during the process to have a bilateral mastectomy. I've never heard of being able to get immediate implants without having to have expanders. Expanders stretch the skin. Just because I haven't heard of it, doesn't mean it cant be done. I have no regrets about my surgery. My quality of life hasn't changed at all. I would just recommend you make sure you have a really good plastic surgeon. Don't just use the one recommended by your general surgeon....it's a business to them and they refer their friends. I interviewed 3 before I was satisfied with the one I chose. I see a lot of women being cut across the breast rather than under the breast. That's leaves a scar and I'm trying to figure out why the surgeon would do that. I have no visible scars. I asked a ton of questions and my surgeon showed me lots of before and after pictures and then had some of his patients call me. They were very helpful. I know you are nervous right now but once it's over, you'll be fine.
