I agree with all. People really do try. add to what you have already sited, the person that says, "Breast cancer? oh you'll be fine,no problem, my sister had a lump removed, she's fine!" the idea that all breast cancers are the same and curable is a common ignorant misconception. She was trying to be positive..... Mine was not those things but i wasn't about to say, well MINE is worse.... not going there. The best thing we did was, my husband started a private support page for me on facebook and we invited all of our friends/family to join if they were interested. Then we got to post updates without having to tell the story over and over and listen to story after story each time. We were thanked over and over again as well. I think because people could be supportive in snipits and we could read their thoughts and feel their love without it being overwhelming to them or us.
