getting the port was actually simple. It was an out-patient surgery. I wasn't put completely under, but was sedated and the area was completely numb. All I felt was some pushing. I was a bit nervous about it knowing that I would be awake for the procedure, but it wasn't as bad as I imagined it would be. Healing was pretty fast. After just having a double mastectomy it was actually a breeze. The only complications I had were due to it being on my left side rather than right. It made it harder to get a good blood return which you need for the chemo. The restriction I had were things like no rock climbing and such. Basically don't go doing things like swinging on the monkey bars. I hope all goes well for you. Good luck and God bless.
