Fear, lonliness, confusion, doubt, anger, are just a few of the emotions we all have had at one time or another and all quite normal...this site is an excellent source of love and support...and you are NOT alone!!...there are millions and millions of us sistas who have beat the odds and are still out there "kickin cancer's ass" (excuse my French).....my BFF was the same way..she never knew anyone who had BC and after learning of mine, she ended up knowing 3 ladies with it within a week's time...I am a nurse and really never knew anyone with it...seems you just have more of an awareness of the disease once you have it
there are so many BC treatments out there that alot of us on here have gotten a different chemo regime from others...the dosing is based on weight, age, type of cancer, so many variables...you can research those drugs on the American Cancer Society site to read dosing recommendations (the site has an index for cancer drugs)...keep in mind dosing of the drug may vary depending on the type of cancer being treated (colon CA vs breast Ca etc)...also how much and how long may also vary from doctor to doctor..you were given good advice to ask more questions if you are still not sure...you have to be your own advocate during this journey!!
Immunotherapy has recently made the news but it has only been used specifically for a few cancers (with some promising results)..I did not read if this has been tried on BC..we do have success with Hormone therapy for BC.. I am also triple positive..there are great drugs out there for this very treatable cancer..I got Herceptin for 12 months...and now take Letrozole (Femara is the brand name) a pill for 5-10 yrs...both of these are Hormone treatments with a great track record!...I am on Letrozole and doing great
keep us posted and come on here and ask questions day or night! hugs
