so sorry you are having an issue...most breast "lumps" are benign but should ALWAYS be checked out...this is a change in your breast and should addressed asap...I'm curious as to why you are just now getting an appt 3 months after you found the lump...hum...but glad you are having it looked at...luckily, age is on your side...I keep getting told that the most common causes of breast cancer are being a woman and being old (I was 61 at diagnosis...no risk factors)...but all suspicious lumps should be examined so good for you...here is the process that most women go through:
>breast exam by a physician
>mammogram with possibly ultrasound to see a lump
>breast biopsy to determine if the lump is cancerous if mammo looks "suspicious"
>sample sent to pathology to determine if lump is cancerous or benign (remember it may not be!!)
>all the abouve may be done to rule out cancer (and ease your mind)
If by chance, the lump does show cancer cells, this is NOT A DEATH SENTENCE!!...breast cancer is a highly survivable cancer and there are many, many great treatments out there depending on what type it is (I never knew there were different types)....I found a "lump" last Aug 2015 that was cancer and I am doing GREAT!!....we are many many survivors on this site and are proof you can survive this...this site is a great place to go to for support and info..please let us know how your appt goes and we can assist you every step of the way!
p.s.---just curious how you found this site?
