Hi Cheryl, My surgery went very well. I had a lumpectomy and then a breast reduction. The pain wasn't too bad. The worst part was the nausea afterwards. I met with my BS yesterday to go over pathology and I had clean margins on the original DCIS, but they found a new area of high grade DCIS that hadn't showed up on original imaging. The good news is that because of the reduction, that portion of my breast was also removed, but it did make me a little nervous about my decision to do a lumpectomy rather than mastectomy. I have an appointment with the oncologist to talk about radiation next Tuesday. Thanks for your support and your advice. I still have a lot of swelling from the surgery. I'm not sure if applying ice will help and stitches are getting itchy, which I guess is a good sign that everything is healing. Hope all is well with you. Xoxo Patty
