I had bilateral mastectomy in 2012 with expanders and yes, it's very painful. Your surgery is very recent so you have to give yourself time. Be happy the medication is working. The expanders process was very difficult for me....especially getting the fills. You're going to have to be okay with taking the meds around the clock. As time goes on, you won't need the strong stuff, you will eventually get to Advil but it's a process. Try using cold or hot packs. Sleep in a recliner if you have one and wear shirts with pockets to put the drains in. They are very painful if you allow them to fall free.
I didn't have nipple sparing so I can't speak for that. I can say that once it's over,you'll be normal again and life goes on. Congratulations on being strong enough to be proactive and take such a huge step. Blessings to you!
