Welcome here. Sorry you have to be here though. I had bilateral mastectomies and bilateral TRAM reconstruction. I chose the bilateral mastectomies for the same reason you are thinking of doing it. I had similar masses each side only one was cancerous but I didn't want to have to live with the worry. I elected for TRAM because I had to have my reconstruction from my own tissue because of the risk of infection with implants. My recovery was long because I suffered a life threatening infection. Surgery was end of September, didn't return to work until mid January. I don't have any regrets. I don't know anything about losing weight with the procedure...unfortunately I have only gained weight. They do expand and shrink based on your weight though. I hope this isn't too forward but I was numb from my neck to my pubic bone so there are some sexual ramifications that I wished someone had told me. But even so, it's all worth it.

By the way, I am still numb after 10 years however alot of nerve regeneration has taken place over time.
