Hi Patricia,
I also had DCIS. I had a bilateral mastectomy. I was tired of multiple biopsies, having the probably not cancer box checked, and mammograms every 6 months.
I went with the gel implant. The Dr. told me I was too thin for a flap proceedure. He did say the gel implant he was using was not fluid, so if it tore it would stay in place and not be absorbed by my body.
I am having problems with mobility. I am 3 months post exchange. When I lay on my back, putting my arms above my head or to the side is uncomfortable. Also, the pectoral muscles twist badly when I flex them, even for something as simple as wiping the counter. I wonder if a flap proceedure would have been better.
