Patricia,
Welcome to the site! You have picked a wonderful place for the encouragement and comfort you will need from people who know!! I do not think you are being too aggressive. I too was diagnosed with DCIS in June and I opted for the double mastectomy. I too didn't want to give it a chance to come back. Unfortunately, mine wasn't contained like they thought, so I was so lucky that I got the bilateral mastectomy. They would have had to turn around and do it anyway. I am in the middle of my chemo and am doing really well so far!! I also am getting my expander bags filled now so when I am done with chemo I can get my reconstructive surgery done. I opted for the saline implants because they are better for your body if something would go wrong. Your body absorbs saline, so you would be able to see a difference in size if it were to leak. Silicone, would take much longer to see if something was wrong. That is just my reasoning on things. I am glad you found us here at this site. These women keep me going! Welcome Welcome!!
Hugs from Iowa,
Mandy
