Hi,

Yes it does split because mine did it by itself. My foam also was waterlogged. We Sealed the edge with fiberglass and injected new foam in holes we drilled in the bottom and then sealed. We're not sure if this is correct. We could have brought it to Janesville Wis. and paid $500.00. If you find my procedure is wrong pleas let me know so I can correct it. I havn't used it yet in water.
