It's always fascinating to me what people read into a given image.

The header image at The Sublime Desire of Cigarette Smoking Multimedia Archive is the one that you're referring to. And it might interest you to know that I was just going for a visual symbolic representation of the "entrance" to the archive. I imagined clicking the links to be like stepping through the door and watching or reading something in the Dark by yourself...while also smoking, of course.
