Hmmmm . . .
Interesting image and interesting comments about it. A few random thoughts from the recesses of my mind.
Are my lungs feminine? Or have I made them masculine by deliberately smoking Marlboro Reds - a brand that by the time I started smoking in the 80's had been clearly marketed to men for many years? I choose to think that my lungs are just as feminine as the cocktail dress Marcus likes to see me wear. They're certainly both black and fit me well.
Outside I'm a simple, sweet, innocent looking girl. Inside? That's a different story.
We're taught that women are the weaker sex and even though we know better, the concept remains. We also know that repeated exposure to polluted air such as a non-smoking man living with a smoking woman might breathe on a regular basis can weaken his respiratory system. So maybe she does feminize his lungs a little.
Now, what I'm doing when I pin Marcus's shoulders back and force smoke from my lungs into his, feeling myself lifted on his expanding chest is another matter entirely and probably better explored elsewhere.
