Breaking Bad is absolutely brilliant. It is the work of Vince Gilligan. Gilligan's prior work included the X-Files. His writing gave the programme it's dark edge as well as it's humour. Gilligan was interviewed in the New York Times some weeks ago. I'll offer a link if others would care to read it.
