I found your account of your attraction to Bouguereau most interesting. You're quite right not to take my alternative "analysis" seriously - I was just being facetious. However, I do rather like the idea of Venus emerging from her scallop shell, looking around her and thinking "God, I need a cigarette!" You could possibly imagine her answering one of these questionnaires about smoking habits which appear in magazines, e.g.
"Question 1: When do you have your first cigarette of the day?
(a) As soon as I am born
(b) ..."
For my part, I have been in love with Venus d'Urbino for years. As I'm sure you know, she is in the Uffizi in Florence. The first time I saw her in the flesh, so to speak, I gasped out loud and could not tear myself away from gazing at her voluptuous beauty, staring directly at you and challenging you to disapprove of her if you wish, she couldn't care less. This aspect might indeed fit into one of the themes which you have featured in your header images.
I'll see what I can do for you when I get the opportunity...
Ooooh, how nice! I see her as a Marlboro red girl; what do you think?
