The motivation for making these images is simply because it gives me a great deal of personal pleasure. Spending time drawing, redrawing, and deconstructing images of smokers that interest me is meditative and erotic, and it puts me in touch with ways of thinking about and looking at smoking that transcend the mundane and reflexive.
That other people can find pleasure and food for thought in them as well is just icing on the cake for me, and it is entirely my pleasure as well to share them with you.
