Your post is a very interesting one that's very true, especially as more states have passed excessively sweeping smoking restrictions(and unfortunately, my home state of Illinois being one that passed a Washington state-style ban with NO EXEMPTIONS whatsoever, even for age-restricted businesses such as bars, casinos, and private clubs).
The reason that what you said is so true, is that I 100% agree with Marcus smoking is MUCH MORE than just a physical addiction. It's a bonding experience with like-minded and laid-back people(bonding experience being one of the major reasons I actually decided on my own to start smoking). It's also an easy way to sneak away from non-smoking co-workers at an office you're getting tired of listening/talking to.
In addition for many, it's knowing you'll likely have an opportunity to talk to the same friends of yours that smoke at a certain time of day.
I know I'll definitely forget some good examples I could mention here of why this is true, but I think you can get my drift of how much I agree with Marcus.
