you're addicted to...Love? Nicotine? The love of nicotine! Don't those two things seem to just go together, at least for a few of us in this community?

I'm often amused by people's own assessment of their addiction; most folks claim they weren't addicted until a year or more after their first cigarette. That may be true in the sense of becoming a daily smoker, but nicotine is subtle and the roots of addiction take hold in the very first few puffs. I read once where after (just!) four puffs, there's an 85% chance of going on to become a full-time smoker, although the process may be slow and gentle over a period of months.
